Clown drummer Martin "Vlad" Evanick has been kicked out of his band after being charged with producing and sharing child porn.
"The other guys say they 'never saw it coming,' but I did," said Chuck Owens, who quit the Illinois band -- The Core Of Your Nightmares -- a year ago due to "general embarrassment."
Owens said Evanick was the only member of Nightmares who regularly wore clown makeup -- and that wasn't the only sign that the drummer was a "weird dude" who threatened other band members.
Federal investigators said in late October that Evanick, 31, took inappropriate pictures of himself engaged in a sex act with a child. They believe he abused the child several times since June of 2010.
The self-described "frontman" of the band, who spoke to HuffPost Crime through Facebook, said the band is all but broken up at this point. Facebook users have swarmed the page and continue to leave off-color comments for Evanick, including "rot in prison."
"He's no longer in the band, and after further discussion we decided to disband," the member, who wished to remain anonymous, said. "If we had thought he was [in a relationship with a] 10-year-old or some shit, we would've turned him in ourselves."
If convicted, Evanick faces up to 30 years in prison a $250,000 fine and a long term of supervised release.
